Brent has over 25 years’ experience in SME’s. He has gained his extensive skills and knowledge in many of Australia’s largest business sectors, including Petroleum, Financial Services and business services.
Brent commenced his career in the early 1980’s as the proprietor of a music business in the northern suburbs of Sydney. After 4 years of building the business into a very profitable venture, Brent sold the business and returned to full time study, completing a Bachelor of Applied Science.
Upon successfully finishing his degree Brent joined Caltex as part of a graduate management program. Over the next 8 years Brent progressively moved through the ranks, holding several key management positions. In the final 2 years whilst at Caltex, Brent held the position of National Trade Promotions Manager and was responsible for planning and implementing a national marketing and sales program for over 1000 service stations and convenience stores.
From the late 1990’s through to 2007, Brent was a part of the senior management team at Mortgage Choice. In the nine years Brent was at Mortgage Choice he played a key role is taking the company from a small franchise operation to where it is now, namely a leading Australian financial institution listed on the stock exchange. Mortgage Choice is one of Australia’s leading franchisors and has over 450 franchise owners throughout Australia. During his time at Mortgage Choice one of his key management roles was managing the selection and recruitment of the Mortgage Choice business owners, both greenfield and resales.
Between 2000 and 2005 Brent was an elected member of the NSW Chapter of the Franchise Council of Australia (FCA), and for the period of 2003 to 2005, Brent was elected to the position of NSW Chapter President. In addition, he was also a member of the FCA National Board during the same period. In 2007 Brent was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation Award for his support and work with the FCA.
More recently Brent has been working with Poolwerx, Poolwerx is one of Australia’s leading and best known franchise systems and is the largest pool servicing company in Australia, with operations in the US and New Zealand. Brent has been instrumental in taking the NSW region from the lowest performing region to the highest region within the Poolwerx network. Key to the growth in NSW has been the acquisition of competitor businesses and the opening of greenfield locations.
Brent has wealth of experience in all areas of SME business, especially franchised based business. In particular, Brent is highly experienced and skilled in the areas of business sales and acquisitions, operations, marketing, sales, systems and compliance, field operations, business owner recruitment and selection, and financial management.
